A very limited number of scholarships are awarded each year to help cover the costs of course tuition, travel and accommodations for highly qualified students without the resources available to participate. Scholarships may include:
Scholarships selection is very competitive; generally only 1-2 full scholarships are available to 50-100 applicants. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Course Directors on the basis of financial need, relevance of the course to career in STD/HIV research, and qualification/potential of the applicant to contribute to the field. Competition for these scholarships is intense, so we recommend that prospective participants seek external resources to attend the course whenever possible.
Scholarship applications are reviewed by Course Directors. Incomplete scholarship applications that do not include a letter of recommendation from a supervisor emailed to pshr@uw.edu will not be considered. Notification of scholarship award will be sent via email approximately two weeks after the scholarship deadline. Those who apply for a scholarship will be reviewed for general course acceptance as well, and will be notified if they have been accepted to participate but not granted a scholarship.
If you are applying for a scholarship, submit a letter of recommendation from a current or past supervisor, instructor or professor. Letters of recommendation must be emailed directly to pshr@uw.edu and can be submitted by the applicant or the recommender.
